For Corporate Trainers ·
What you'll accomplish
You'll create a professional training video using an AI presenter avatar: no camera, no studio, no re-shoots needed. You'll go from a written script to a published video you can embed in your LMS, and you'll know how to update it in minutes whenever the content changes.
What you'll need
Before opening Synthesia, write your video script as plain narration text (not bullet points). Write it the way you'd speak it aloud during a training session.
[PAUSE] annotations where you want a brief pause (works in some Synthesia voices)Tip: If your script feels stiff, paste it into ChatGPT and ask: "Rewrite this as natural spoken narration: conversational but professional, as if explaining to a new employee."
What you should see: A clean script with natural sentence flow, no bullet points, estimated reading time noted.
Troubleshooting: If you're not sure how long your script runs, paste it into a text-to-speech tool and time it.
Go to synthesia.io → Sign in → Click "New Video" on your dashboard. You'll see two options: "Start from template" or "Start from scratch." For training content, start from a template to save layout time.
What you should see: A template library with categories including "Training & Education," "Onboarding," and "Compliance." Select the one that best matches your content type.
Click the avatar preview (typically in the left sidebar or the main slide area). A gallery of AI presenters appears. Browse by ethnicity, age, style, and setting.
What you should see: Your chosen avatar now appears in the video slide preview.
Troubleshooting: If the avatar feels too "uncanny valley" for your audience, try avatars in the "Casual" or "Professional" categories. Some appear more natural than others.
On the right side of the screen, find the "Script" text panel. Delete any placeholder text. Paste your script text here.
What you should see: Your avatar speaks your script in the preview panel. Adjust if any words are mispronounced (there's a phonetics override option).
Synthesia videos can include slides with text overlays, images, and callout boxes.
What you should see: A multi-slide video structure with your avatar and supporting visuals on each slide.
Click "Generate Video" (top right). A dialog appears asking you to confirm. Click "Generate."
What you should see: A professional-looking training video with synchronized lip movement, natural voice, and your supporting visuals.
